Rudraprayag Launches Its Own Wireless Network for Emergencies

Rudraprayag has become the first district to have its own wireless network. This initiative has been launched by the Uttarakhand government and is named the "District Disaster Resource Network." The network will remain operational even during disasters or critical situations in Kedarnath Dham.

It offers facilities like Wi-Fi, mobile data, voice calling, and high-quality CCTV visuals. Pilgrims can access the service by registering their mobile number in the phone's Wi-Fi settings and verifying it through an OTP.

It is noteworthy that during the disaster on the Kedarnath trekking route in July 2024, mobile networks had completely shut down.

India to Launch 52 Spy Satellites in the Next Five Years

India will launch 52 spy satellites into space over the next five years with the aim of strengthening the country’s space-based surveillance capabilities. This information was shared by Pawan Kumar Goenka, Chairman of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe).

He stated that private companies will play a crucial role in this initiative. Until now, this task has been primarily handled by ISRO, but going forward, the private sector will also be involved. These satellites will enable the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force to closely monitor enemy activities.

Foreign Investment in India’s Green Energy Sector Grows 8-Fold in Five Years

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in India’s green energy sector has increased eight-fold over the past five years.
In FY 2024–25, the sector received around $12 billion (over ₹1 lakh crore) in FDI.
In just the first three quarters of 2024–25, foreign investment matched the total received during all of FY 2023–24.

According to a report by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water’s Green Finance Centre (CEEW-GFC), FDI in India's green energy sector grew eight times between FY 2021 and FY 2025.
The sector’s share in India’s total FDI was only 1.3% in 2021, but by 2025, it rose to 8.4%.

As per the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, foreign investment in the green energy sector reached up to ₹4 lakh crore between 2021 and 2024.

Chinese scientists have developed a bio-battery that generates electricity from the metabolic activity of bacteria.
This battery can self-charge up to 10 times and has an efficiency rate of 99.5%.
Researchers from the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology have designed this battery in a miniaturized and portable form.

It uses electroactive microorganisms that help generate electricity.
The battery maintains 99.5% coulombic efficiency for up to 50 charge/discharge cycles, resulting in minimal energy loss.

Indian Government Issues Letter of Intent to Elon Musk’s Starlink

The Indian government has issued a Letter of Intent (LoI) to Elon Musk’s company Starlink to begin providing satellite internet services in the country.
Previously, the government had also granted licenses to Jio Satellite Communications and Eutelsat OneWeb.

An official stated that Starlink has agreed to comply with licensing conditions related to national security.
Starlink offers high-speed broadband internet globally using satellite technology.
Experts believe that Starlink’s entry could help bridge the digital divide, especially in rural areas with limited internet access.

India Becomes the Third Largest Producer of Electricity from Renewable Energy

India is rapidly advancing in the domestic production of green energy equipment. Last year, the country produced 80 gigawatts of solar modules.
In the financial year 2024–25, India added 24 gigawatts of solar energy capacity.

According to research firm Ember, India’s wind and solar capacity has doubled over the past five years.
After China and the United States, India is now the third-largest producer of electricity from renewable energy.

India aims to integrate 500 gigawatts of non-fossil fuel energy into its power grid by 2030.
India also seeks to tap into the demand from countries looking to reduce their dependence on China for solar energy equipment.

According to the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA), India’s solar module exports grew 23-fold between 2022 and 2024.
